About This Place

Nestled conveniently on 760 Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park, MD, Cafe Mezzanotte is a quintessential European dining destination that masterfully fuses Italian culinary tradition with a contemporary bar atmosphere. Perfect for intimate dinners, casual gatherings, or special celebrations, this restaurant offers an inviting ambiance where every detail–from the warm lighting to the softly murmuring conversations–sets the stage for an unforgettable experience.

Cuisine here is a loving tribute to the authentic flavors of Italy and Europe, artfully prepared with locally sourced ingredients and seasonal finesse. The menu reads like a love letter to classic Italian fare, boasting standout dishes such as the crispy, tender Lifeguard Calamari and the irresistibly comforting Chicken Marsala paired with perfectly cooked spaghetti. Patrons rave about their Brussel Sprouts, toasted to perfection with a caramelized crunch that balances beautifully with their savory house seasonings.

Seafood lovers will delight in expertly prepared plates like the succulent Charred Octopus and delicate Scallop Truca Risotto, where tender scallops rest atop creamy, flavorful Arborio rice. Meat dishes such as the decadent Short Rib Bresare and the hearty Bison Ribeye showcase deep, rich flavors that linger long after the last bite.

Dessert is an art form here, and the House Tiramisu embodies the perfect balance of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cream, and dusting of cocoa. Another favorite, the Creme Brulee, offers a luxuriously smooth custard crowned with a satisfyingly crackling caramelized sugar shell. The layered flavors and textures in each dessert are sure to captivate your palate and complete your meal beautifully.

Cafe Mezzanotte also distinguishes itself with its stellar selection of soups to begin your meal: the rich Cream of Crab Soup with jumbo lump crab and a sherry cream reduction, or the hearty, smoky Pasta Fagiole Soup brimming with root vegetables and guanciale, set a comforting tone for the courses to follow.

Customer experiences underscore the attentive, polished service here. Reviewers frequently mention the welcoming staff who balance professionalism with genuine warmth; one diner highlighted how their server made planning a large wedding celebration seamless and stress-free, ensuring everyone was well cared for. Another appreciated the fresh, soft bread served as a prelude to the meal, setting a gracious tone right from the start.

What truly breathes life into Cafe Mezzanotte is its ability to blend the familiar with subtle, creative twists — such as a luscious pesto fettuccine that reimagines Alfredo, or a mushroom risotto where every ingredient stands out distinctly, never melding into a dull mush. Whether you’re savoring a quiet, romantic dinner accompanied by deliciously crafted cocktails or celebrating an important milestone with loved ones, the atmosphere here is refined yet welcoming, with a clientele that appreciates a thoughtful and elevating dining experience.

If you’re drawn to genuine Italian flavors served up in an elegant, yet relaxed environment — where every dish is a sensory journey and every visit feels special — Cafe Mezzanotte is a standout choice in Severna Park’s vibrant dining scene. From their house-made pizzas like the classic Margherita, to soul-satisfying pasta classics like Lasagna Classico and Spaghetti with Meatballs, your table awaits a feast for the senses.

This was a great experience! Waiter was on top of things. Fresh bread served before the meal, so soft and delicious! Creamy pesto fettuccine was a really nice take on the traditional Alfredo. The mushroom risotto was not a bunch of mush - you could actually see all the ingredients. The almond dessert was incredible. Basically fancy ice cream sandwiches. Parking was accessible. My biggest issue was the table we were seated at. It was like an afterthought to squish a two seater by the wall. I had to awkwardly squeeze by the next table and felt like I had to keep my side up against the wall the whole time. As far as I can tell, only one table is like that. Overall, a fantastic experience!

Had dinner for three on a Thursday evening. Dining room was fairly full on Thursday which is a testament to their great food and service. Most tables were occupied by well dressed people between the ages of 40 to 75. My 11 year old son has mushroom risotto with steak tips. He has several food allergies and many items our waitress did not know if they had eggs. She was unable to find out, which is unusual, but we appreciated her honesty to avoid a reaction. My husband had chicken franchese and I had chicken picatta, both large portions and very tasty. My spouse and I shared tiramisu which was excellent. I will return, but don't suggest this place for those with food allergies.

Shout out to Victoria!! She made planning my daughter's wedding celebration lunch super easy and everything was perfect! The food was amazing! Everyone in our party enjoyed themselves, especially the bride & groom! We had plenty of space for our large group and plenty of time to sit back and enjoy this special day with our newly blended families! Thank you so much!

Great food and excellent cocktails for a quiet romantic dinner. A little wait on the service front but overall, good service. This was my second visit and I definitely plan to go again.

Super yummy food and always a nice atmosphere. Crowded but was managed very well for how many people were coming and going. Our server, Sabrina, was excellent. Food was hot and well seasoned. Have been a few times and keep coming back because it's consistently good.

Call me something of a snob about Italian food and the restaurants that serve it and thinking that only Little Italy has the best of the best. This restYour first restaurant provided one of the best eating experiences in my life and should not be overlooked. To go out to eat and I had the chef special which was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life.
